I'm the boss of me
I love hearing kids playing together and getting into hilarious (and often maddening) arguments. Inevitably, the phrase “You're not the boss of me!” gets blurted out a time or two and it always makes me chuckle.
You’re not the boss of me. In the case of the kiddos, that’s probably very true. It gets a little more complicated in different contexts, like school and work. Or... does it?
Simplicity isn't simple
“It’s simple. You just (fill in the blank .)”
How many times have you heard this? Better yet, how many times have you said it? We like to reduce entire ideas and systems into prescriptive statements, a bullet-pointed list to check off and turn in for a gold star.
You need to calm down
“It’s a jungle out there.” Understatement of the century. The world is a swirling mix of delight and terror and motion and madness. It’s no wonder we’re experiencing burnout at breakneck pace. Last year it even became an official medical condition recognized by the World Health Organization.
