Day Two: Charts & Lists & Plans, Oh My!

Picking up where we left of yesterday... Shannon and I let the book idea fester a while before we met to discuss the logistics.  We'd worked out that we'd each write some of our own experiences, memories, processing times with God, etc., and then I'd write a more narrative section, and Shannon would interview some of the family and close friends to include in an interview section.  Later we discovered, after her exhausting work to speak with everyone and compile all the information, that interviewing  different people who were in pretty close proximity during the same 40 day period tends to produce oddly similar responses.  :)

Anyway, I remember emails and phone calls between the two of us, but the day I went to her house to flesh out more of the book face-to-face is a great memory for me.

We were also working on a record as a fundraiser for The Rick Pearson Memorial Fund (we'll discuss this in the 30 day journey a little later), so while Jonathan and Jeffrey B., Shannon's hubby, discussed some of the logistical matters for recording that project, Shannon and I sat in her livingroom floor with charts and notebooks, both of us excitedly making to-do lists with those wonderful little check boxes beside each point.  See, Shannon and I are a lot alike in many ways... except my handwriting is less like a computer font, and my house isn't as clean.  But other than that, we're pretty similar.  We both LOVE organization.  It's energizing.  If you're anything like my husband, you're rolling your eyes at me right now.

By the time I left Shannon's, we had a game plan with due dates for completing what was to become the very infant form of the book that will release in 29 days- Desperate Hope.  It looks nothing like that infant form of the book.  God's funny sometimes...

Thank you, God, for reminding me of the process, reminding me of how silly some of our planning can be, but how You honored every bit of it.  I know it made you smile to see Your kids just trying to do something to please You. You've let me feel the hugs and see the smiles so many times since then.  I'm humbled to be on this journey with- and to- You.  Amen.

Thanks!  Let's do it again tomorrow!
