Week In Review
My favorites from around the web.
This week was SILLY, you guys. No sleep, birthday parties, big projects. AND... I built a website. Like, I BUILT this thing, and I've never done that before on my own. Ever. * takes a bow.
Anyway, after craziness I figured I'd post a roundup of some of the things I found or enjoyed along the way.
Favorite Article:
Aside from finding Benjamin Franklin quirky and wonderfully offbeat, I also admire him for his innovative way of approaching his day-to-day. This Inc. article talks about the way he began structuring his life from childhood and how his 5 Hour Rule developed. I haven’t mastered it at all, but I’ve been trying to implement portions of it and, I gotta say, I can see why it’s a valuable habit to pick up. Most leaders worth their salt have their own forms of this system, and I would challenge you to Click here and read some of the ways these leaders have created a dynamic personal growth strategy, all stemming from Mr. Ben Franklin himself.
Favorite Video Giggle:
My friend, Aaron Chewning, never disappoints in the humor department. If you don’t follow him on social media, you’re doing yourself a great disservice. Several weeks ago, in the midst of gun control debate and tiresome arguments, I scrolled along on Instagram and this little gem popped up in my feed. Instant giggles. I came across it again this week in a much needed moment of stress. Again, instant giggles. Enjoy Tree Work Ahead.
Favorite Creativity Quote:
This lovely thought hit me at just the right time this week when I was feeling stuck and a little like I would never have another good idea, the end. Perhaps you have found yourself in a similar place, feeling as if your ideas and your brain have reached their edges and have nowhere left to journey. Maybe you need reminding, just like I did, that hustle can give you the fuel for more hustle, and that there’s always more creativity to uncover. You just have to commit to being creative.
“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” –Maya Angelou
Favorite Luxury:
I understand and fully accept how completely first world these meal delivery services are. And I, for one, am thanking the automation gods for however long I’m able to take advantage of such luxurious nonsense, because this season for my family is full out insanity, and the only way my two little boys are going to get anything fresh and remotely green is when it’s delivered to my doorstep. Blue Apron has been, for my family, a money saver and a game changer. We have 2 meals delivered every week, which means the four of us have at least two delicious, fresh, and healthy meals to add to the steady diet of string cheese, fig bars, and fruit/veggie squeeze pouches. I can’t tell you how many bags of spinach have become a slimy liquid goo in my refrigerator simply because we don’t have time to prep food these days. Because Blue Apron is pre-measured and perfectly portioned, I never even think about meals. I just follow the instructions and plate beautifully delicious food for my family. So, this entrepreneur mom is happily subscribed to one of the most ingenious luxuries out there right now.
