Week In Review no. 5

(Yes, you read that correctly. Boyz II Men.)

This review is a day late and I don’t feel the least bit bad about it. Because the week was in. sane. and I am just now able to get my head around much of it.

Ever have that feeling of working from a deficit? If you say “no,” I want to cause you physical harm and then learn your ways. Last week started from a deficit in many ways. It’s a shame that I can’t fully enjoy Labor Day, a day for all the hardworking people to just take a breather, because I’m thinking about how far behind it will put me. I just felt like I was on a brand new rollercoaster all week, and every turn and dip was exciting and terrifying and slightly nauseating. And yet it was really, really good. And it ended in perfection. So, here’s my roundup of various moments & things from the previous week.

Favorite app:

Notion has been ruling for Lindsay and me. It’s essentially a blank canvas for productivity, workflow, task management, and team collaboration. We have used EVERYTHING under the sun (I mean it) and this one seems to be the one that’s sticking because of how customizable it is and how it can integrate all the productivity features we want and need into one. We highly recommend taking it out for a spin if you’re part of a team and need to be able to personalize features and experiences to make them all make sense for different personalities.

Favorite quote:

“Life happens somewhere between depravity and deity.” — Laura Gilder

My friend Laura just rolled this one out this weekend and I was like “WHO ARE MY FRIENDS AND WHY ARE THEY SO AMAZING?!” I love the simple profoundness of these words in the context of self-care. Giving yourself grace and making room for the messes doesn’t diminish the challenge to move toward something more pure, more holy. gah. I love my friends.

Favorite moment:

Speaking of friends, this weekend I went to Nashville with Laura from the above quote and my other rockstar friend, Shannon, and we saw Boyz II Men. In concert. With the Nashville symphony orchestra. In the amphitheater on the river. In what can only be described as heavenly temperatures. And we harmonized to every song. And giggled at how good real singing and instrument playing can be. And it was everything. *sigh*

Favorite new find:

Hearth & Hammer is my new favorite thing in life. Go check out their website and swoon at all the unreal candles they make. And how cute they are as a couple. I get just a little more than obsessed with interesting candle fragrances. When those are combined with literature—and actually trying to capture the essence of classic novels with a scent experience—I am the epitome of “cannot even.” These candles are so delicious (we got the sampler box… bad decision for us, GENIUS move on their part!). I see so much money flying away in the near future.

That’s all this week. Happy Tuesday!
